Delete your account
You can delete your Strand account and the personal data held against it at any time. Deletion is permanent — there is no undo and no recovery window — but you are free to sign up again afterwards with a fresh account.
Delete some of your data without closing your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to have data removed. Email support@shortcutssoftware.com from the address on your Strand account and tell us what you want deleted. You do not need to give a reason, and your account stays open.
We respond within one month. If something has to be kept we will say so plainly and explain why — What is kept below sets out the cases where the law requires it.
Some content you can remove yourself, in the app, at any time: photos attached to a booking, your portfolio photos and videos and saved client contacts if you are a stylist, a waiting-list entry, and anything in your shopping basket. Deleting these affects nothing else on your account.
Delete your whole account, from inside the app
Open Strand and go to Profile → Delete Account, then confirm. Your account is deactivated immediately and the data below is erased as part of the same request.
Request deletion without the app
If you no longer have the app installed, email support@shortcutssoftware.com from the email address on your Strand account, with the subject Account deletion request. Tell us the name on the account so we can find it.
We may ask you to confirm a detail only the account holder would know, so that nobody else can delete your account. We action verified requests within 30 days and email you when it is done.
If you owe money for an appointment
Where an appointment has been completed but not paid for, we may need that balance settled before we can complete the deletion. Strand shows an unpaid balance on your home screen with a link to pay it; if you would rather not use the app, email us at support@shortcutssoftware.com and we will tell you exactly what is outstanding and how to clear it.
This is the only circumstance in which we hold a deletion request open. Settling the balance removes the block, and we then delete your account as described above. The debt itself, and the booking and payment records that evidence it, are retained either way — see What is kept below.
If we cannot complete your request, we will tell you why within one month. You always have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photo and biography.
- Your sign-in identity with our identity provider, so the account can no longer be logged into.
- Stylist contact details, business name, address, logo and cover images, and your published profile (which is unpublished at the same time).
- Portfolio photos and videos — both the records and the underlying image files.
- The contents of messages you sent, and the free text on any connection requests you sent. An empty placeholder remains in the other person's conversation so their thread stays readable.
- Notifications, notification preferences and push-notification tokens.
- Favourites, discoverability settings and any location you shared for geo-discovery.
- Blocks and reports you made, and reports made about you.
- Free-text notes you added to a booking.
What is kept, and for how long
A small amount of data is kept because the law requires it or because it is needed to defend a legal claim — UK GDPR Article 17(3) permits this. Specifically:
- Booking and payment records — appointments, amounts, payment and refund records. These are financial records we must retain for tax purposes, and they let us handle a chargeback or dispute. They are held for approximately six years and then deleted.
- Reviews you wrote — the rating and written feedback stay on the stylist's profile, but your name is removed from them.
- Booking status history — a record that an action was taken on a booking, kept as a dispute audit trail.
Nothing in that list identifies you by name, email or phone number once deletion is complete.
Data held by our payment provider
Card payments are processed by Stripe, which holds its own records as a data controller for fraud and financial-compliance purposes. Deleting your Strand account does not delete Stripe's records. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
