Terms of Service
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By accessing or using Strand ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Shortcuts Software (UK) Limited, trading as Strand ("Strand", "we", "us"). Our registered details are in Section 18.
2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
Strand is a platform connecting clients with hair stylists ("Stylists") for the discovery, booking, and payment of hair and beauty services in the United Kingdom. Strand facilitates the connection and transaction but is not a party to the service contract between you and the Stylist.
3. ACCOUNTS
You must create an account to use Strand. You must be at least 18 years old to register. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- All activity that takes place under your account.
- Providing accurate and up-to-date information.
- Notifying us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are inactive for an extended period, or pose a security or safety risk.
4. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
Bookings are agreements between Clients and Stylists. Strand facilitates the transaction but is not a party to the service contract. Prices displayed are set by Stylists and, unless stated otherwise, include any applicable taxes.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment through the App you also agree to Stripe's terms of service (https://stripe.com/legal). Strand does not store full payment card details.
Deposits may be required to secure a booking and are subject to the Stylist's cancellation policy.
5. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Cancellation and refund policies are set by individual Stylists and will be presented at the time of booking. Strand processes refunds in accordance with the agreed policy. Deposits are generally non-refundable unless the Stylist cancels or fails to deliver the booked service.

6. STYLIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Stylists agree to:
- Honour confirmed bookings or notify Clients of cancellations in good time.
- Maintain professional standards, including hygiene, training, and any required licences or insurance.
- Accurately represent their services, pricing, and availability.
- Comply with all applicable laws, including consumer protection and tax obligations. Stylists are independent businesses and are solely responsible for their own tax affairs.
- Treat Clients and other Stylists with respect.
Strand reserves the right to remove Stylists who breach these standards.
7. USER CONTENT
You may upload photos, portfolio images, messages, reviews, and other content ("User Content") through the App. You retain ownership of your User Content. By uploading it, you grant Strand a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and adapt the User Content for the purposes of operating and promoting the Strand service.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload your User Content and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party (including subjects of photographs).
There is no tolerance for objectionable User Content or abusive behaviour on Strand. Objectionable content includes content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, discriminatory, defamatory, or that depicts a person without their consent.
Every place User Content appears in the App - messages, profiles, portfolio images, images shared by customers, and reviews - carries a way to report it, and you can block any other user from the profile or conversation screen. Every report is reviewed. Content found to breach these Terms is removed, and the account responsible may be suspended or terminated immediately and without notice. Reports may also be made by email to support@shortcutssoftware.com.
Strand may remove any User Content, at any time, where it reasonably believes these Terms have been breached.
8. PROHIBITED USE
You may not use Strand to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
- Transmit spam, harassment, hateful content, or any unlawful or harmful content.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App or its underlying systems.
- Engage in fraudulent transactions or chargeback abuse.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except as permitted by law.
- Scrape, harvest, or otherwise collect data from the App by automated means.
9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All content, branding, trademarks, and software comprising Strand (excluding User Content) are the property of Strand or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the App without our prior written consent.
10. PRIVACY
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. DISCLAIMERS
Strand is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will meet your requirements.
Strand is not a provider of hair or beauty services. We do not employ, supervise, or vet Stylists beyond basic onboarding checks. We make no warranty as to the quality, safety, or suitability of any service performed by a Stylist.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law.
Subject to the above, to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings.
- Our total aggregate liability arising from or in connection with your use of the App shall not exceed £100 or, if greater, the total fees paid by you to Strand in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. INDEMNITY
You agree to indemnify Strand against any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the App.
14. TERMINATION
You may stop using Strand and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 9, 12, 13, and 15–18) will survive.
15. CHANGES TO TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App.
16. GENERAL
- Entire agreement: these Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) constitute the entire agreement between you and Strand.
- Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver: failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure: we are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
17. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers may bring claims in the courts of their place of residence where required by applicable law.
